Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has accused certain NGOs of spreading misinformation. He stated that these organizations have misled the public by suggesting that the Georgian Parliament requires an invitation from the President to convene.<\/p>\n

Papuashvili asserted that the responsibility for disseminating such information lies with the donors of these NGOs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe responsibility does not rest with these NGOs\u2014such as ISFED, Transparency International, or GYLA\u2014but with their donors who finance these disinformation campaigns against Georgia,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out, \u201cRecently, Transparency International \u2013 Georgia spread false information, claiming that the Georgian Parliament cannot convene without the President\u2019s invitation. Transparency International should either retract this misinformation or its donor, the Swedish Embassy, should publicly refute it. This type of disinformation is often shared internationally, leading foreign entities to question us about what is true or false. The Swedish Embassy has the opportunity to act responsibly by urging Transparency International to deny the false claim that Parliament requires the President\u2019s invitation to convene, or by addressing the matter directly, given that their funding enabled this misinformation to circulate both in Georgia and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
