His plan includes structural reforms, improved inter-agency cooperation, and protection of privacy rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Transparency and public accountability<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cCriminal justice policy implementation and crime prevention are impossible without an informed citizenry. I am committed to strengthening the accountability component before society and maintaining a policy of information accessibility,\u201d Gvarakidze told the committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He emphasised that the policy of timely information on significant criminal cases of high public interest will continue, with citizens having simple access to prosecutorial information through official channels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anti-Corruption Focus<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI particularly want to highlight the importance of fighting corruption in both public and private sectors as a separate priority,\u201d the candidate declared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Gvarakidze outlined steps to improve the detection of crimes by special subjects, money laundering, and corruption: \u201cstructural optimisation, thematic retraining of investigators, activation of mechanisms for searching and seizing criminal assets, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He noted that attention should focus on \u201clegitimate spending of state program funding and facts of abuse of access to state resources.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Specialised Units for Fraud and Cybercrime<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The candidate announced plans for a specialised anti-fraud division within Tbilisi\u2019s prosecutor system, \u201cstaffed with retrained prosecutors\u201d who \u201cwill provide procedural guidance only to criminal cases of this category.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On cybercrime, the candidate said: \u201cTo improve the quality of cybercrime investigation and procedural guidance, it\u2019s important to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, maintain active communication with service providers, use legal assistance mechanisms, and share best international experience.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Organised Crime and Privacy Protection<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI support implementing a strict criminal policy against organised crime to ensure preventive and effective combat,\u201d Gvarakidze stated, noting that organised crime influence \u201coften exceeds one country\u2019s borders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Addressing privacy violations, he declared: \u201cGiven the growing nature of illegal dissemination of information reflecting private life and the severity of moral damage inflicted on victims, refining methods of combating this crime and implementing justice will be my strategic priority.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The candidate emphasised creating specialised divisions and accelerating prosecutorial decisions while ensuring \u201cthe alleviation of victimisation burden for victims.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Giorgi Gvarakidze, candidate for Georgia\u2019s Prosecutor General, presented his reform agenda to Parliament\u2019s Legal Affairs Committee, emphasising transparency, anti-corruption measures, specialised anti-fraud units, and enhanced cybercrime capabilities.
