Tbilisi City Court remanded 8 individuals, detained during the protests, in custody.
The defendants – Zviad Tsetskhladze, Vepkhia Kasradze, Vasil Kadzelashvili, Giorgi Gorgadze, Irakli Miminoshvili, Insaf Aliev, Tornike Goshadze, and Nikoloz Javakhishvili – are being tried together, although the defense contends there is not evidence they even know each other.
The individuals were arrested during the protests in December, 2024 and face charges under Article 225 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which penalizes participation in group violence with prison sentences of 4 to 6 years.
