“While the franchised local NGO Transparency International-Georgia attempts to destabilize Georgia with funding from Sweden, the true Transparency International organization has published the new Corruption Perception Global Index. The report once again confirms the hypocrisy and double standards of Brussels,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili wrote on Facebook.
According to Papuashvili, high-ranking officials in Brussels speak of backsliding when the facts demonstrate the opposite.
“Georgia outpaces seven EU member states and eleven NATO member states. As for the EU’s candidate countries, guess how many of them we surpass? All of them. The non-opening of accession talks for Georgia by Brussels is not only unjust, but it also clearly indicates political retaliation and obstruction,” he said.
