Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated on Monday that “People with the status of the artist alongside Kezerashvili’s journalists were breaking into the public broadcaster, insulting journalists and media representatives. This is obviously coordinated.”
As Kobakhidze noted, this very attempt “reminds everyone of the November 7, invasion of “Iberia”, the seizure of “Rustavi 2″, and the past take over of the public broadcaster.”
“Everything is generally coordinated. These people were trained. Some so-called artists, who underwent Canvas training, broke into the public broadcaster with Kezerashvili’s journalists, insulting media representatives. All of this, of course, is coordinated.
When we earlier said that artists were being trained in revolution, some people responded ironically to this, but the fact is, there are unsuccessful, yet revolutionary processes, and these people directly participate in them. Of course, all of this is pre-planned.
Concerning the recent attempts to break into media outlets, this is undoubtedly the hallmark of the United National Movement. Everyone remembers November 7, 2007, when such tactics were employed. In fact, one or two ‘sincere’ young individuals explicitly assured representatives from Imedi that they intended to repeat the events of that day; this threat was made not just once but reiterated multiple times. It is truly astonishing that when you are, for instance, the child of a high-ranking Constitutional Security Department official, and from a young age you are taught that November 7 was a glorious and positive event, you inevitably develop a corresponding moral outlook—a reality that is indeed unfortunate. We must take care of such young people too.
As for the assault on television stations, this incident naturally evokes memories of November 7, the invasion of Iberia, the seizure of Rustavi 2, and the takeover of the Public Broadcaster during that period. We experienced all of this from 2004 to 2007, and it took just a few years for them to establish a complete television monopoly in our country. The tactics and strategies remain unchanged. Why is that? Back then, they acted on their patron’s orders, and they continue to do so now. The signature of their approach remains the same,” he noted.
