“The visit of the Georgian parliamentary delegation to the United States has been quite successful,” stated MP Guram Macharashvili, the Executive Secretary of People’s Power.
According to him, there is already a sense in Washington that the Joe Biden administration left a heavy legacy concerning Georgia.
“It was Secretary Rubio’s statement that made this clear. It’s understandable that, under the Trump administration, it took a year to understand why Georgia was treated in a certain way. Now, we are witnessing an effort to reset relations and have positive meetings. Clearly, there is a genuine willingness to foster a bilateral, friendly, and partnership-based relationship. We are just at the beginning of this process. It’s no surprise that the United National Movement and its affiliates are already mourning and lamenting, because their old formula was that the worse things are for Georgia, the better it is for them. These steps with America are more beneficial for Georgia and more damaging to the UNM, which they are now complaining about and crying over. This is the party that is preparing to be dismantled following the Constitutional Court’s decision,” Guram Macharashvili remarked.
