Minister of Economy: Georgia demonstrated resilience, stability, safety, consistency, and flexibility in extremely complicated, complex years

“Georgia has made it through extremely complicated and complex years. It has demonstrated resilience, stability, safety, consistency,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development at the panel discussion titled Georgia – Nexus for Investments held within the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

According to Kvrivishvili, the policy of making business easily serves as “the fundamental basis of how the economy keeps growing fast in Georgia.”

“And we use the opportunity to show off. In the last 2-3 years, our economic growth has reached 9.6 %. This year, we already have up to 8% economic growth compared to the same period of last year.

This brings Georgia as the leader in the region, and leader among the European countries. This takes a lot of effort, hard work, a vivid action plan, and it takes an extremely tight parnership between the government and private sector and all the integrated parties. It is teamwork, we are very committed to ensure that we continue to be the most hospitable country in the world, not only for travellers but for domestic and international investors,” she said.

Mariam Kvrivishvili remarked that Georgia is determined to support all scales of businesses, providing them with all necessary instruments and tools, and most importantly, access to finance.

The Minister of Economy spoke about the investment climate in Georgia. She named predictability, safety, and stability as key and fundamental factors for investors.

She extended her gratitude to EMAAR Group and Eagle Hills Founder, Mohamed Alabbar for large-scale investment projects.

“I had an excellent dialogue with Mr Alabbar, who is a big friend and already our family member, and really represents a milestone for our country’s success with his historic USD 6.5 billion scale of investment. This is a very big achievement,” she said and thanked the forum participants.

“I would like to use this opportunity to once again thank everyone who took their time and came to Georgia and gave us the honor and privilege to host over 2,300 delegates from more than 70 countries. It is extremely important for our country to be able to host forums like this and the Silk Road Forum has really been shaped as an important platform for dialogue between governments, goverment to private sector and business to bsiness relations and I think today has been extremely productive for all of us, to have panel discussions and a lot of interesting meetings by which we made huge progress adressing multiple matters and concerns and the ways how we overcome them together, contries and the private sector,” she said.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze delivered the opening speech at the Georgia – Nexus for Investments panel of the Silk Road Forum. EMAAR Group and Eagle Hills founder Mohamed Alabbar, Galt & Taggart Executive Director Giorgi Kuprashvili, Trammo, Inc. Senior Vice President Oliver K. Stanton, and Chairman and CEO of Eksim Holding Ebubekir Tivnikli participated in the panel discussion.

Nika Gvaramia announces new opposition alliance: We will win together

“We are creating unity to win together,” said Nika Gvaramia, leader of the Akhali party, following a meeting of opposition groups.According to Gvaramia, the opposition parties have agreed on a common direction and coordinated actions while maintaining their individual political identities.“We agree on a common direction and common actions. We are not renouncing our political identities, nor are we forming a joint list. We are not discussing this at the moment and do not know whether it will be discussed in the future. What we are creating now is a unified platform for joint action,” Gvaramia stated.The opposition parties participating in the meeting also released a joint statement announcing the formation of the Alliance of Democratic Opposition Parties of Georgia.“We have agreed on a shared strategy and common rules of action, and declare that through joint efforts we aim to liberate Georgia from the autocratic regime of Bidzina Ivanishvili, restore the country’s Euro-Atlantic course, and ensure democratic governance, national security, and the well-being of the Georgian people.The agreement is based on the following principles:Unity without uniformity: The founding parties retain their ideological identities but commit to unified protest actions and a coordinated communication strategy. The alliance aims to demonstrate to both the Georgian public and international partners that it represents a democratic alternative to Ivanishvili’s oligarchic and autocratic regime.Democratic alternative: The parties state that the regime can only be defeated by a democratic alternative focused on citizens’ interests. We emphasize that decision-making within the alliance will be based on equality among participants and independence from external influence.Political and public consensus: The alliance seeks to achieve broad political and public consensus through wide civic engagement, with the goal of defeating the Ivanishvili government in free and fair elections and forming a democratic coalition government to implement necessary reforms,” the statement reads.The signatory parties have also agreed on a code of conduct regulating relations among member parties and establishing accountability mechanisms for violations.The statement concludes that the opposition alliance “will fight to the end – until the release of political prisoners and victory in free and fair elections.”The alliance includes the following parties: “Akhali,” “Girchi,” “Droa,” “European Georgia,” “National Movement,” “National Democratic Party,” “Freedom Square,” “Strategy Agmashenebeli,” and “Federalists.”

Government to arrange special flights to secure return of Georgian citizens

Minister of Culture visits rehabilitation works at Transfiguration Dome Church and Ikalto Academy building

Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze has inspected the ongoing restoration of the Transfiguration Dome Church and the Academy Building within the Ikalto Church Architectural Complex.According to the Ministry of Culture, the restoration of these nationally significant cultural heritage sites is being carried out by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection, with the support of the Ministry.“At this stage, work is progressing on installing a copper roof and a belt along the slopes of the Transfiguration Church; removing subsequent layers of plaster and painted sections from the interior; and sealing, caulking, and injecting cracks. Foundation strengthening efforts have been completed; copper roofing and a belt have been installed on the dome. Regarding the academy building, vegetation has been cleared; the fence wall has been reconstructed; and loose stones have been removed. Earthworks and foundation reinforcement are currently underway near the perimeter,” the Georgian Ministry of Culture stated.Minister Rukhadze expressed her gratitude to all those involved in the restoration efforts.“The government and our church are working hand in hand to preserve this magnificent cultural monument. We are committed to ensuring it is never neglected,” she said.Accompanying the Minister were Metropolitan Abba of Alaverdi, Davit (Makharadze), Deputy Mayor of Telavi Municipality Giga Mamukelashvili, and Tea Oniani, Director of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection.

The European Union will hold an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council regarding the developments in Iran.

Alireza Arafi has been appointed as a member of Iran’s Leadership Council.

According to Reuters, citing an Iranian news agency, the council has been tasked with assuming the role of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, until the Assembly of Experts elects a new leader. During the transitional period, Alireza Arafi will serve on the interim Leadership Council alongside Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and the head of the judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei.
