The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) says the law enforcement officers are mobilized in the area surrounding the legislative body to ensure the rule of law.
The Ministry calls on the protesters “to refrain from violent actions and protest per norms defined by the law.”
“Despite numerous calls made by police to the participants of the rally on the spot, to express their protest peacefully and not to exceed norms established by the law on assembly-manifestation, some of the protesters are physically confronting law enforcement officers and insulting them verbally.
Herewith, we would like to inform the public that as a result of the alleged violent action from the side of one of the members of the manifestation against the police, one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured and taken to the medical facility,” reads the statement.
The MIA noted that the law enforcement officer was injured, “allegedly as a result of violent actions by protesters. He has been transported to a medical facility for treatment.’
