“We have proven multiple times not through words, but through actions that it was during the Georgian Dream government’s tenure that Georgia took the most effective and successful steps towards European integration,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated in a video address on Facebook.
According to Kaladze, “the government reinforced Georgia’s aspiration towards European and Euro-Atlantic structures by enshrining the commitment in the Constitution’s 78th article and demonstrating through actions its loyalty to the European course.”
“If you truly want Georgia’s European integration and to end polarization in Georgian society, the key lies with European structures. I call on the protesters: We should unite not to destabilize, but to develop the country. Let’s jointly demand the opening of negotiations and the acceleration of the European integration process. This decision must be made by the West, not the Georgian government.
Instead of non-existent protests, let’s express our protest to ensure a European future. Let’s collectively urge EU structures to open negotiations, and let them provide a document we can sign. Let them show partnership through actions, not just words. Actions instead of blackmail – this is our approach,” Kaladze noted.
