A record figure, 20.6 thousand tons of apple exports worth USD 14 million, was observed in 2025, accompanied by an increase in the average export price, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.According to the Ministry, the increase was preconditioned by wharehousing-procession infrastructure improvement that ensured quality and uninterrupted supply.The ministry considers the Near East (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates), North Africa (Egypt), India and Central Asian countries as promising markets for Georgian apples’ export.Coordinated efforts of the state and private sector- development of technologies, maintaining quality standards and diversification of markets create a solid foundation for the successful positioning of Georgian apples in international markets.

“Any funding related to politics, whether directly or indirectly, should be transparent to the public,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.The Prime Minister accused NGOs of deliberately avoiding transparency, describing it as clear evidence that they are concealing something in their funding.“First and foremost, the public deserves to know why these organisations are hiding their funding from the Georgian people. Remember, their main argument was about stigma; they claimed they did not want to be registered as agents of foreign influence. Yet, at that time, they openly registered as a foreign power. This clearly demonstrates how false their claims about stigma were, as well as their objections to the transparency law overall. Any funding, whether directly or indirectly related to politics, should be transparent to the public. These organisations are avoiding this, which is undeniable proof that they have something in their funding that they are trying to conceal,” the Prime Minister stated.

A protest is going on at the administrative building of the Georgian Technical University (GTU).Representatives from academic and scientific circles and students demand that the decision over the unification of the GTU and Tbilisi State University (TSU) be cancelled.The protest participants say they are ready to meet with the Education Minister, members of the parliamentary Education Committee and provide arguments why the unification of the two universities is unjustified.
