The Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections has issued a statement.“In light of information disseminated through various media outlets regarding possible violations of electoral legislation during the pre-election period, including the alleged confiscation of identification cards from voters, the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia urges all parties involved in the October 26, 2024, parliamentary elections to ensure the conduct of elections in a free and fair environment, prevent the spread of disinformation, effectively prevent violations of electoral legislation, and ensure appropriate response to such violations.
We call on all parties involved in the elections to share information supported by specific facts regarding possible violations of electoral law rather than making general, unidentifiable, and vague statements. Given the mandate of the Interagency Commission for Free and Fair Elections, we urge all parties to cooperate with the Commission regarding possible violations of electoral legislation,” the statement reads.
