Georgian Orthodox Church released a statement echoing ongoing developments in Georgia.
According to the statement, the current situation causes confrontation and jeopardizes the peaceful co-living of citizens.
The GOC stresses that despite the call of the church, the protest at Rustaveli Avenue escalated into a confrontation.
“The video footage released by the media and social networks demonstrates the activities, which went beyond law and morality. The current situation causes confrontation and jeopardizes the peaceful co-living of citizens.
Those standing on both sides are equally valuable to us, and we pray for them. We pray for the quick recovery of the injured. Additionally, we urge youngsters and protesters to demonstrate common sense and adhere to the boundaries of freedom of expression. We call on law enforcers to show patience and avoid exceeding lawful authorities; the government should ensure timely and prompt investigation, their objective assessment and informing society,” reads the statement.
