Gia Volski: U.S. House Judiciary Committee says Euro-bureaucracy interferes in internal affairs; clearly defines our challenges

“The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee states that Euro-bureaucracy has turned into a monster which directly interferes in the internal affairs of specific countries,” stated the First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski.

Volski was asked about the report published by the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, according to which “the European Commission remains loyal to censorship, targets conservative content, and interferes in elections throughout Europe”.

“Everything is based on real facts, just as was the U.S. State Department’s decision that enormous sums paid by American taxpayers should not be spent on intervention in other countries. The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee has expressed similar concerns, describing Euro-bureaucracy as having become a monster, a mechanism that directly interferes in the internal affairs of specific countries. Not only does it fail to contribute positively to the development of processes, but it also seeks to impose double standards on everything. Unfortunately, all of this has resulted in quite serious consequences for Georgia, especially as it has led to the emergence of certain flashpoints of confrontation. I doubt their outcome will be beneficial for them, but the fact remains that the Judiciary Committee has drawn clear conclusions about what we are dealing with when we speak of double standards from Brussels. According to data from the European Commission, Georgia is ahead of other candidate countries in every area deemed a European standard,” stated Gia Volski.

PM: Developing connectivity and transit is priority

No sectoral policy can succeed without a properly functioning management system, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in an interview with POSTV. According to Kobakhidze, the government has set an ambitious goal for Georgia to rank among the top three countries in Europe with the lowest levels of corruption. “We spoke openly about corruption-related problems and, most importantly, we took concrete measures. I am not referring only to investigations into specific officials — the key step was regulating practice. From the moment the new government was formed, we ensured transparency of government acts. Since then, tens of thousands of acts have been published. Anyone can review them and raise questions about possible signs of corruption, and we are ready to respond,” Kobakhidze said. He added that the government believes the goal is achievable with the reforms already implemented and those planned in the future. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of maximizing Georgia’s strategic geographic position by strengthening its connectivity and transit role. He noted that significant investments are being made in infrastructure. “According to our plan, by the end of 2030, almost all principal road sections from the Turkish border to the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia will be completed,” Kobakhidze said.
