Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, participated in the 12th Ministerial of the Advisory Board of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC).
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants with his opening remarks,
Mariam Kvrivishvili focused on the significance of cooperation.
“Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) sets the example of what we can achieve with joint efforts. This corridor strengthened energy security and diversification. Georgia is proud of playing a reliable transit country in this process. Georgia has proved to be an active supporter and indispensable participant of the Southern Gas Corridor. It remains committed to a strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation between all parties involved,” she said.
Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized Georgia’s function as a “bridge” in energy diversification.
“Natural gas transported through our country is of crucial importance for the diversification of international, and in particular, the European Union, energy markets and for improving security of supply,” she said.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani and Gennady Arveladze, and Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, attended the ministerial meeting.
