The Batumi City Court sentenced Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti to prison as a preventive measure.
The prosecutor’s office requested imprisonment as a preventive measure. In response, Amaglobeli’s lawyer, Paata Diasamidze, had filed a motion advocating for bail as an alternative preventive measure. He requested the court to set the bail at GEL 100,000 on behalf of his client.
Yesterday, the prosecutor’s office formally charged Mzia Amaglobeli under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to assaulting a police officer.
The law enforcement officers arrested Amaglobeli on January 12 under the same article of the Criminal Code, which addresses offences related to assaulting a police officer.
