“I want to appeal to our Abkhazian fellows residing across the Enguri Bridge that trust, relations, can only be restored to each other through peace,” said Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani at the Enguri Bridge.
According to the Public Defender, human rights cannot be protected without peace.
“There are no human rights where there is war and no peace. Therefore, we should foremost think about what we have in common, how to restore what was lost, and then everything will resolve itself, including the problems that our citizens face on the other side of the bridge,” he said.
Today, Georgia commemorates the 32nd anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi, Russian-occupied Abkhazia region.
